چکیده
Background: Visfatin is a multifaceted protein that plays an important role in diabetes (DM) and periodontitis (CP). It has been known during inflammation, the production of IL-1b, TNF-a can be induced by visfatin. Therefore, visfatin mediator for both diseases. The aim this study to investigation levels serum, saliva GCF samples non-diabetic patients controlled uncontrolled diabetic patients, evaluation relationship with clinical biochemical parameters
Methods: Study protocol, 5 groups which each one were consisted 15 subjects planned: periodontally healthy systemically (DM-P-); CP (DM-P+), (DM+P-), (DM+P+), (uDM+P). Serum, obtained and, visfatin, TNF-? IL-1? determined ELISA. Results: highest seen (uDM+P+) group (p>0.001). Significant positive correlations between detected (p

Serum levels of interleukin-23 and 35 in patients with and without type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic periodontitis
Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic periodontitis (CP) show common pathophysiological features. We investigated the serum levels of IL-23 and IL-35 in people with type 2 DM and CP. Methods: In a cross-sectional study, 72 patients were divided into four equal groups: group A, participants without type 2 DM and CP; group B, patients with type 2 DM without CP; group C, patients ...
متن کاملErratum: Serum, saliva, and GCF concentration of RANKL and osteoprotegerin in smokers versus nonsmokers with chronic periodontitis
BACKGROUND The role of host response in periodontitis pathogenesis is confirmed, and it is well established that immune response plays a major role in the alveolar bone destruction. In the investigation of these responses, the role of receptor activator of the nuclear factor-kB ligand (RANKL)-osteoprotegerin (OPG) system is the most promising. Smoking can affect the RANKL-OPG system in a manner...
متن کاملEvaluation of proteinase and phospholipase activity of Candida albicans strains isolated from the mouth of patients with controlled and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus in Qazvin province: Short Communication
Pathophysiological changes in the mouth of patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) predispose to overgrowth of Candida albicans. Various virulence factors such as proteinase and phospholipase production are involved in the process of degradation of the host cell membrane. These enzymes are involved in binding Candida species, especially in the hyphae stage, to the target tissue. In this study, the...
متن کاملComparing Gingival Crevicular Fluid Visfatin Levels Between Patients with Endometrial Cancer and Chronic Periodontitis and Healthy Controls
Background and purpose: The association between periodontal diseases and endometrial cancer (EC) has been assessed in some studies but the probable role of inflammatory factors such as visfatin is unknown. This study aimed at evaluating the levels of visfatin in gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) in patients with EC and chronic periodontitis (CP) to address this gap. Materials and methods: In a ...
